In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules to support our customer's next generation networks. We are looking for a Process Engineer, Integration to join our team. This team will be responsible for MEMS optical cross-connect switches' design, development, and manufacturing in our Fremont facilities.

This person will work with multi-discipline teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites. Especially, this person will interact extensively with frontend process engineer and backend process engineer to ensure the performance, quality, as well as scheduling of the optical cross-connect switch development.


What You Will Do

  • With guidance from Sr. Engineers and managers, lead related team members on the optical cross-connect switch (OCS) product process design and development.
  • Responsible for the process development of the whole OCS optical system final alignment and assembly process with pre-assembled frontend and backend optical subassemblies.
  • Responsible for the calibration and performance testing of the OCS with the testing engineer and the cooperating team.
  • Responsible for the quality assurance and reliability testing of the OCS with the reliability engineer and the cooperating team.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvements of the OCS optical system process platforms.
  • Provides technical support to technicians and peer engineers of the R&D team.
  • Release drawings of the OCS, record process procedure details, documenting the processes following the ISO standards.
  • Coordinates product activities with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality using the engineering change request (ECO) procedures.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in physics, applied physics, material science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering with optical orientations.
  • At least 5 years of product process development in optical products
  • Hands on experience in optical system integration
  • Experience in opto-mechanical design and process development concepts and principles
  • Experience with optical components, modules, and systems
  • Experience with various optical alignment methods, both passive and active
  • Experience with optical assemblies with applications of optical adhesives, solders, mechanical fastening, etc.
  • Experience with PFMEA analysis and Design for Experiments (DOE)
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical process control
  • Experience with new product introduction process


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree
  • Bilingual with Mandarin
  • Experience with the characteristics and use of various optical adhesives, glasses, ceramics, and metallic materials
  • Experience with optical design using Zemax

For this role, we anticipate paying $140,000 - $180,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
