Job Summary:

Provides assessment and goal oriented treatment for rehabilitation and/or modification of specific physical, mental, emotional or social behaviors.

Position supports both in-patient and out-patient addiction patients through group sessions.

Key Position Details:

  • Main schedule during the week with some occasional weekend work

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic recreation.
    • Plan, review and revise programs according to patient needs and professional trends in therapeutic recreation.
    • Develop and teach treatment programs to meet patient needs. Examples may include Tai Chi Chih, goal setting, community groups, aquatics etc.
    • Provide adequate supplies for patient treatment.
    • Maintain safety of patient and staff.
    • Clean and organize treatment space.
    • Document patient treatment goals and progress.
    • Provide leisure and community resources to patients.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary communication.
    • Collaborate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and goal setting.
    • Convey observations and changes to the team.
    • Participate in problem solving with regard to treatment planning.
    • Provide student education and evaluation.
    • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreational and Leisure studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation required
  • 0 to 2 years in a clinical specialty area or completion of a student internship in comparable setting required
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification required
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard training if position supports aquatic programs required


Physical Demands
Light Work:
Lifting weight Up to 20 lbs. occasionally, Up to 10 lbs. frequently
