Your Job

Our Micro Solutions Semiconductor products team is looking for a Field Applications Engineer. This person will be responsible for collaborating with customers to ensure the easy adoption and design in our mmWave RFIC products and be the liaison beween Molex engineering teams and customers.

This is a customer facing role is critical to the success of the product launches and ensuring success in the market. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What You Will Do

Pre- and Post-Sales activities:

  • Engage with customers to understand their system requirements and applications, and work with them to architect High-Speed Interface solutions using Molex's 60GHz mmWave technology. Help customers with Systems Design. Review schematics/layout of system platforms (Flex and PC Boards) and provide technical help and feedback on their designs to help them succeed.
  • Support world-wide Customers with Bring-Up of their Systems, Debug and Productization.
  • Design and Test of Reference Platform Systems for Demonstration of Molex Contactless Connector products to Customers, including Hardware and Firmware.
  • Design and Test of Customized Proofs of Concept for specific customer engagements: Gathering Requirements; Schematic Design; Supervision of Board Layout, Fabrication and Assembly; Working with Mechanical Engineers to Build Product Mechanicals; Firmware; Test and Characterization.

Internal Product Development activities:

  • Design SoC Characterization and System-Level Test Platforms that include MCUs, discrete logic, FPGA, multi-gigabit interfaces and analog circuitry. Work with internal SoC Design Team (RF, Analog, Digital Designers) for gathering of requirements, creation of specifications, schematic and layout.
  • Create test plans for the SoCs, based on system specifications and electrical requirements relating to Standards-based High-Speed Signaling protocols, RF/mmWave considerations, Signal Integrity, Mechanical/Structural Integrity, Power and Thermal Budget.
  • Validation and qualification of electrical interfaces and/or performing standards-based protocol tests: implementing test plans, creating, maintaining, and executing robust test automation with Python, performing Radio Frequency measurements and characterization.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of systems design, hardware product validation and characterization experience for consumer/enterprise applications.
  • Expert-level familiarity with Industry-Standard EDA Tools for Board-Level Schematic Capture, Analog and Digital Circuit Design and Simulation, Layout Design, Design for Test (DFT).
  • Deep knowledge at the Protocol and Electrical (Physical and Data Link Layer) levels of one or more High-Speed Multi-Giga-Bit Interfaces, including: USB3.x, USB2.0; GigaBit Ethernet, DisplayPort; HDMI; MIPI/CSI.
  • Validation and characterization experience of electrical interfaces for at least one of these high-speed protocols.
  • Protocol testing experience with any of the above High-Speed Interface Standards, including an understanding of the required test infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Real Time Operating Systems, Low Level Firmware and Chip and System Verification.
  • Experience with Power Distribution, Signal and Power Integrity, Thermal Management.
  • Sufficient understanding of Mechanical Design issues to be able to work with external and internal mechanical engineers to create robust products.

If you have questions, please speak to your recruiter about the flexibility and detail of our compensation philosophy. For this role, we anticipate paying $140,000 - $180,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
