Primary Responsibilities

• Willingness to be involved with a broad spectrum of construction, materials, scheduling, and design activities.
• Willing to receive supervision and support from senior field representatives, Project Managers, and designers.
• Ideally, previous experience or internship as a Construction Inspector, CADD drafter, or materials inspector.
• Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses, and have the capability to learn and assist design teams with CADD drafting.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
• Proven problem solving and documentation abilities
• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads and bridges
• Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Conduct reviews and verifications of construction schedules, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for construction projects
• Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
• Interest and/or experience in the construction field
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
• This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing. HDR is a drug and alcohol free environment

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  
• MNDOT Field Certifications and experience with Federal and State aid documentation is preferred
• Primavera P6 Scheduling Software experience
• Ability to perform work on Microstation or Autocad a plus
• Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection and materials testing
• Ability to interpret construction schedules
• Preference given to local candidates
