About the Job

The Roman Galaxy Redshift Survey (GRS) PIT seeks postdoctoral scholars to join our team as Roman Junior Scientists, with work focused on deliverables to the NASA Roman Project. Specifically, the postdoc at the University of Minnesota will be responsible for modeling the galaxy populations required for the Roman simulations.

70%: Research on modeling galaxy populations for the Roman Space Telescope.
5% Supervision of graduate students, and undergraduates participating in this research
10% Maintain familiarity with the latest results and methods in the field, reading relevant papers, organizing and participating in seminars and conferences.
15%: Communicating research to the collaboration and the broader community by giving presentations to the collaboration, writing technical documents, and submitting papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Giving presentations at universities and laboratories, and presenting results at domestic and international conferences. Other duties of a similar scope as assigned.)

Qualifications

Required:
PhD in Physics or Astrophysics by beginning date of appointment.

Preferred:
We seek a post-doctoral research associate with strong experience in data science and machine learning combined with knowledge of extragalactic astrophysics and galaxy formation.
