About the Job

You will work under the supervision of Professors Andrey Chubukov and Alex Kamenev in the William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute (FTPI). A successful candidate is encouraged to collaborate with Prof. Boris Shklovskii from FTPI and other faculty in the School of Physics and Astronomy. Scientific research will include the analysis of correlated electrons, dynamical correlations, and other modern aspects of condensed-matter physics.

Job duties will include the following.
60% Carrying out research in theoretical condensed matter physics. Determining which unresolved questions to study. Deciding on the appropriate theoretical methods to use to answer these questions. Deriving or extending these methods as needed. Evaluating the results for consistency, both internal consistency and with experimental results.
30% Communicating research to the broader community. Writing papers and submitting them for publication in scientific journals. Giving seminar talks at various institutions. Presenting results at conferences (both domestic and international).
10% Maintaining familiarity with cutting edge results and methods. Reading relevant papers. Organizing and participating in the condensed matter Journal club. Attending seminars and conferences.
Other duties of a similar scope as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in physics or closely related field by beginning date of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in theoretical condensed matter physics
