Resource Development VISTA

For one year, get paid to build sustainable solutions in a community, gain valuable hands-on experience and prepare for your future. This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset.

AmeriCorps VISTA members are Volunteers in Service to America who perform indirect service to build capacity and sustainable solutions.

What will you do?

The resource development VISTA member creates, documents and implements a prospect research system in GrantHub and Raisers Edge/NXT that will include corporations and foundations. This process will assist with identifying and categorizing high-impact funders and investors within the current and future grant opportunity pool nationally, regionally, and locally, to help improve fundraising efforts. Each strategy should be well documented and evaluated to ensure sustainability beyond your service.

  • Research, develop and document a resource development and marketing plan, including targeting local individuals, businesses, faith organizations, school groups, civic groups and other community organizations.
  • Research, develop and implement systems to track donor contacts and donations and develop a donor recognition plan to recognize donor loyalty and/or milestones.

This position will focus on fundraising aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

Centrally located, the metro-Phoenix area offers something for music lovers, foodies, and adventurers alike. In your off hours, enjoy hikes through the red-rock, mountains of Sedona and the forested trails of Flagstaff or take a weekend trip to the Grand Canyon located just 3 hours north of Phoenix. Immerse yourself in local music, art, and food scene in Downtown Phoenix First Fridays just 15 minutes from our central office. Consider perusing the western shops of Old Town Scottsdale or have a boat picnic at Tempe Town Lake.
  • Unique projects: Ranked as the #1 affiliate for families served, AmeriCorps members of the Central Arizona affiliate see direct impact in the lives of over 800 families with the help of over 13,000 volunteers a year. During the global pandemic of 2020, our affiliate remained steadfast in the construction of 16 homes, including a 3D-printed home in Tempe, Arizona. Fast forward to fiscal year 2021 - 2022, in partnership with U.S. Vets, we constructed two, 5-bedroom, community homes for female, veterans.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens or is a person residing in a state that have the following legal residency classifications: refugee, asylum or asylee, temporary protected status, or deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status. Applicants must be at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
