Summary

Lead machining operations and related processes. Provide leadership in improving the productivity and efficiency of the department

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

(But not limited to...)

  • Develop and maintain procedures, policies and manual required.
  • Coordinate activities of Machining Supervisors and other personnel as required. Assign priorities.
  • Keep the Manufacturing Manager informed of problems and recommend and implement solutions.
  • Be aware of delivery priorities and schedules and make adjustments to schedule as needed when conditions require.
  • Monitor machining area for work instructions, proper setup and following of process and housekeeping.
  • Assist in coordination of engineering or quality projects.
  • Maintain and improve department efficiency.
  • Serve as a contributing member of the plant management staff team and support the achievement of company objectives.
  • Be supportive and active in developing and maintaining preventive maintenance in machining.
  • Responsible for staffing and ensuring that proper training is provided to maintain and improve skill level of the associates in your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained, appropriate safety systems/processes are utilized, and ensure compliance with all OSHA and other state/federal safety and environmental related rules and regulations.
  • Manage and supervise associates in a fair and consistent manner to ensure compliance with personnel and company policies, procedures and safety rules and provide appropriate feedback and/or disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Ensure performance evaluations are completed on time and they provide adequate and honest feedback on associates' performance and include goals and/or areas of improvement needed.
  • Provide growth and development opportunities for associate engagement and satisfaction.
  • Maintain and comply with all other company and corporate systems and procedures as applicable for your area of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • A successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and/or equivalent work experience. 11+ years in die casting or injection molding is preferred. 5+ years related management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple departments and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees. NADCA certifications in Process Control and Die Design for Thermal Processes are preferred.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, from production associates to senior leaders.

  • Ability to function as a team player and be comfortable leading without authority.

  • Must be proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Minitab statistical analysis software.
