We are hiring for every Saturday & Sunday 11:30pm-8am!!

Avivo's Ending Homelessness division provides pathways to housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. We work with county coordinated entry systems and tribal governments, as well as operating a unique street outreach teams to connect unsheltered individuals with shelter and housing. We assist individuals as they find and maintain housing, supporting them in scattered-site apartments in the community as well as site-based housing.

The role of the Recovery Advocate (RA) is to support housing stability and the safety of residents by conducting social activities, completing home checks, monitoring unwanted guests, providing basics needs as requested, deescalating resident conflict, and monitoring mental and chemical health concerns. This role supports day-to-day operations of residents and team members. Tasks include purchasing and obtaining program supplies and donations, transporting residents to appointments, and supporting the Program Manager. The RA understands safe housing for all is a social justice issue and housing is an intrinsic human right. The RA is a person who thrives in an unpredictable work environment and is highly skilled in meeting people where they are at while delivering the highest quality services using culturally responsive and evidence-based practices in a trauma-informed environment.

This position is every Saturday & Sunday 11:30pm-8am

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct client services and program support to clients that are in our Intensive Outpatient Program
  • Engage and build rapport with clients.
  • Distribute harm reduction supplies.
  • Conduct crisis prevention/ intervention as needed to ensure housing stability and holistic health and well-being.
  • Develop and conduct regularly scheduled community activities.
  • Transport and support residents at designated appointments
  • Pack up and place participant belongings in storage when participant moves from housing.
  • Ensure services provided are culturally responsive utilizing best practices.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required
  • Minimum one year experience working with individuals experiencing chemical dependency problems and or mental health issues
  • Minimum of one year freedom from problematic alcohol and chemical use
  • Prior experience working in a residential or housing setting
  • Experience and skills with performing minor custodial and maintenance duties
  • Understanding of diversity and ability to work effectively in a diverse service environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds in order to perform work responsibilities
  • Able to pass DHS background check
  • Lived experience will be valued and considered as part of the experience requirement.
  • Openness to Harm Reduction and Housing First and a willingness to learn how to use it.

PREFERRED:

  • A course of study in health or human services related field leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or associate degree.
  • Previous work experience in a behavioral health setting like a PCA, Certified Peer Recovery Coach, Recovery Advocate, or even a M/A.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Record.
  • Knowledge and awareness of mental health, chemical health, community resources, trauma, institutional racism, gender issues, tenants rights.
