Parking and Transportation Services is a self-supporting unit of the University of Minnesota within Auxiliary Services. The department is responsible for the administration, operation and maintenance of reliable and efficient transportation services on the Twin Cities campus including transit, parking, fleet, streets, walkways and way-finding. PTS supports alternatives to the single-occupant vehicle and promotes programs to encourage the University community to walk, bike, carpool, or take the bus. The department handles compliance documentation for all University vehicles or licensed equipment and administers the fuel credit card, vehicle insurance and safety, and employee driver training programs.

70% Parking- related repairs and maintenance
15% Signs and traffic-related projects
10% Equipment repair and maintenance
5% Other transportation related projects

Work Environment
This position requires primarily fieldwork that is completed outdoors. Work in most facilities requires exposure to weather and seasonal elements (heat, cold, snow). Facility lay-outs include varying/uneven surfaces and stairwells. This position requires walking, climbing stairs and/or ladders, and operating motor vehicles, skid-loaders, power sweepers, etc. Exposure to potentially hazardous equipment and elements possible. Positions may require the ability to walk or stand for majority of day; bend, climb, reach, kneel; carry, lift, push and pull 50 lbs. or more.
