Location Description

Post Consumer Brands corporate headquarters in Lakeville, Minn. is about 20 miles south of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Lakeville has all the benefits of smaller town living with access to everything a large metropolitan area has to offer. Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the accounting/finance team. The Senior Accountant is a key contributor to the monthly financial close process and a member of the team that owns the close process for Post Consumer Brands (PCB). The Senior Accountant is the subject matter expert for lease accounting and will work closely with Operation's management to insure accurate financial reporting in accordance with ASC 842.

  1. Perform and manage all responsibilities related to lease accounting, including working proactively with Operations regarding lease status. Calculate and record monthly lease expense, reconcile lease accounts and all other accounting related to leases.
  2. Contribute to the timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reporting by completing period end close responsibilities.
  3. Stay updated on changes to GAAP standards and other regulations and provide recommendations for general accounting processes related to the standards.
  4. Complete accounting for Canadian subsidiary including payroll, utilities, and all other required activity.
  5. Identifies and implements process improvements.
  6. Provides guidance to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable departments to improve accuracy and timeliness of activity that impacts the financial statements.
  7. Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and assistance with the testing related to the compliance.
  8. Assist in preparation of quarterly/year-end audit and tax working papers.
  9. Documents current procedures and recommends ways to improve internal controls.
  10. Provides back-up for certain tasks performed by other Accountants.
  11. Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

Experience: 5-7 years progressive accounting experience. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and meeting tight deadlines. Experience with JD Edwards or other high level ERP a plus. Experience with lease accounting and/or lease software a plus.

Skills: Ability to work with numbers with a high degree of accuracy; self-motivated, ability to manage multiple demands and set priorities to achieve objectives; analytical, ability to review financial information and identify variations; good problem solving and the ability to complete projects independently. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong oral and written communication skills required.

JOB COMPLEXITY

Internal-Relationships - Works closely with other department members. Works with other departments to gather and provide accurate financial information. Educates other departments on the impact of Lease Accounting. Interaction with parent company and Canadian subsidiary.

External -Relationships- Works with outside auditors to gather and provide required information.

Problem Solving: Research issues encountered in the monthly financial close process and pursue solutions quickly and accurately. Ensure reporting deadlines are met. Proven analytical skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITY

Work Structure: Works under the direction of the Associate Director, Accounting. Work structured by various deadlines.

Responsibilities: Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial information to top management, parent corporation, internal and external auditor, and tax preparers. Errors in work could have a significant impact on business decisions and/or results. Assist in the implementation of automated processes and system improvements.
