Technology Development Field Intern

PURPOSE

The Technology Development Field Intern will serve as a key member of the local Technology Development (TD) team that generates high quality product data for our customers. This intern will have the opportunity to interact with Bayer Company representatives and farmer cooperators, while enabling our field research operations through logistics support. Collaborate with internal teams and build knowledge and experience in seed and traits and crop protection technologies

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Safety: Comply with all OSHA and Bayer safety requirements
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understand and assist with all EPA, USDA-APHIS, and internal Bayer Confined Field Trial requirements for regulated plot testing
  • Assist TD representative(s) with planting activities
  • Data: Assist with required data collection
  • Plot Maintenance: Mowing, hand weeding, spraying border areas, signage
  • Mid-Season: Participation in plot tours, field trainings, and field days

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Biology, Plant Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, or related field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Able to pass pre-employment Driver's checks (Motor Vehicle Records & Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating farm equipment or willingness to learn
  • Windows & iOS Operating Systems/ basic computer skills
  • Post-secondary education
  • Prior agricultural experience &/or field research experience or willingness to learn
  • Certified Pesticide Applicator License or willingness to obtain a license
