Job Description

Provides established pharmaceutical services in the retail and inpatient pharmacy.
 
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Capabilities:

  • Knowledgeable about and monitors healthcare trends and happenings in community, state, and region as well as nationall
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key constituents and all levels of management and employees
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups
  • Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual situations, or situations with combative or agitated patients.
  • Must have critical thinking skills to spot payer processing trends


Essential Functions:
  • Dispense prescriptions in compliance with Federal and State regulations in an accurate, timely and courteous manner
  • Provide effective drug information and consultation to professional staff, providers, patients and members
  • Responsible for strict adherence to the laws of the DEA and other regulatory agencies as they impact on the operation of the pharmacy
  • Assist in the ordering, receiving, storage and safekeeping of pharmaceuticals and maintain a cost-effective inventory level of pharmaceuticals
  • Assist in the direction of work performed by all nonprofessional employees of the pharmacy
  • Foster and utilize the use of pharmacy technicians in the technical duties of the pharmacy
  • Support and cooperate with other departments’ operation initiatives.
  • Maintain a professional image
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement activities
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Current WI licensure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year hospital and/or retail pharmacy experience
