SUMMARY

We are seeking a Lab Technical Services Coordinator to join our Lab Processing Support team. This full time role will work days (mid-shift with start times between 9 AM and 11 AM), including every other weekend.

The role of the technical services coordinator is to provide excellent customer service. Duties include answering incoming phone calls, making outgoing phone calls for critical values and other specimen rejection reasons, completing the steps necessary to add testing to already collected specimens, and monitoring pending test lists for timeliness of completion

RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Laboratory

  • Answers incoming phone calls with the expectation to respond appropriately to external and internal customers' needs/issues without transferring the phone calls to another section of the laboratory. This will require coordination with all sections of the laboratory and may require a return call for resolution
  • Call/page all critical values to the provider, and complete the documentation of all calls in the electronic health record
  • Utilization of the electronic health record and the laboratory information system to efficiently complete add-on test requests, or to confer with the ordering provider if the add-on tests cannot be completed
  • Call all specimen rejection problems to the provider, including all affected specimens for that collection period
  • Monitors the core lab pending logs and communicates to the technical staff to ensure testing is not delayed
  • Operating laboratory equipment as assigned by management after proper training
  • Other duties as assigned but only after applicable training

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Arts or Science or equivalent

-OR-

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science related field as approved by the administrative director
  • One year of experience in the laboratory and
  • One year of experience in customer service skills

License/Certifications:

Core Laboratory:

  • Those hired with an Associate's Degree must be certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Technician CLT (NCA), through written examination or approved equivalent
