The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota occasionally needs teaching specialists or lecturers to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students. Appointments may be full-time or part-time and may be limited to one semester
This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2023-24 academic year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis through academic year. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.
Teaching specialists and lecturers will be expected to teach undergraduate or graduate students in assigned course(s), hold office hours to assist and advise students, and participate in relevant departmental meetings.
Overview:
The pool will established Instructors for undergraduate and graduate courses in the Biomedical Engineering Department (e.g. Transport Phenomena, Biomechanics, Instrumentation, etc.). The position requires all duties that are related to delivering the assigned course, including developing teaching materials, providing instructions, grading student assignments, being available to help answer student questions outside of class.
