Work Location:  Golden Valley, MN
Job Summary:
  Provides quality services and/or products while focusing on customer satisfaction and safety.                                                                                                                                    
Essential Functions:
  • Analyzes installation requirements on the job to support the learning of design and layout of installation practices.
  • Plans and prepares for installation jobs.
  • Installs residential and commercial HVAC appliances including furnaces and central air conditioners and fireplaces for residential customers.
  • Inspects and adjusts heating and air conditioning equipment and fireplaces for residential and commercial customers.
  • Assembles and fabricates components (e.g. sheet metal work).
  • Installs new residential and commercial piping.
  • Turns off and turns on gas meters on customers’ premises, including lighting up appliances as needed.
  • Documents activities, time and materials by completing standard forms and records pertaining to job activities, time spent on job tasks, and materials used.
  • Requisitions supplies and materials for department.
  • Inspects, unloads, and verifies deliveries from suppliers.
  • Cleans up the job site.
 
Basic Qualifications:
Education: 
Requires successful completion of a 1 or 2-year certificate, diploma or associate degree program (minimum of 2 semesters or 3 quarters) at an accredited educational institution in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills.
Experience:
Installer -- Requires no prior experience
Installer I – Warm Air Certificate
Installer II – Warm Air Certificate plus either a Gasfitters or Refrigeration Certificate
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs):
  • Able to meet and maintain performance and attendance criteria for the job.
  • Able to use a personal computer and mainframe software programs to document job completions and payroll.
  • Able to obtain applicable Journeyman Warm Air Competency Card within 18 months of eligibility.
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of State of Minnesota Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Code as applied to installation of HVAC equipment.
  • Able to successfully meet Company standards on a practical HVAC and appliance installation test before hire to determine:
  • Working knowledge of HVAC and appliance installation
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electromechanical relationships
  • Able to assist and support proper installation as directed by others.
  • Able to communicate effectively with employees, customers and industry representatives.
  • Able to demonstrate strong customer service skills.
  • Able to apply a thorough working knowledge of safety procedures, practices and policies.
  • Able to possess a valid State of Minnesota driver’s license and a safe driving record as determined by the Company.
  • Able to obtain a DOT Health card.
  • Able to use a variety of hand and power tools such as pipe wrenches and drills.
  • Able to work independently using sound judgment while in stressful situations.
  • Able to meet all physical requirements, competency-based assessments, pre-employment background checks, pre-employment drug screen and other selection criteria determined by the Company.

Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements
  • Able to use a variety of hand and power tools such as pipe wrenches and drills.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Able to descend and ascend ladders and/or stairs.
  • Able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or reach repeatedly on a daily basis.
  • Able to operate a computer either desktop or laptop
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle.
  • Able to occasionally operate a vehicle rated 10,000 to 14,500 lbs G.V.W.R.
Working Conditions:
  • Able to work a reasonable amount of overtime when required.
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions.
