JOB HIGHLIGHTS:KEMRON is seeking an Entry-LevelEnvironmental Geologist or Scientist who is looking for challenging projects where you learn something new every day, a collaborative environment, an established environmental firm with a network of highly skilled geologists, engineers, and scientists, and a firm where you are valued and can choose your career path as you learn what excites you. In this position you would be a member of a team providing environmental consulting services ranging from site investigations to remediation projects. The ideal candidate for this position is a smart, motivated, and detail-oriented team player who is just starting or is early into their career as an environmental geologist or scientist.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform field work following KEMRON’s training program, including subcontractor management, logging soil borings, overseeing groundwater monitoring well installations, and collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples, as well as documenting field activities
Set up field projects, including permitting; hiring subcontractors; coordinating with staff, laboratories, and subcontractors; and obtaining necessary equipment
Ensure projects are performed safely
Perform data review and interpretation
Draft portions of reports documenting field and other efforts
Assist the Project Manager and team in ensuring effective client and regulatory agency communication and relations
Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and provide all required site/project permitting
Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the U.S.
Maintain a positive attitude and be a team player
NECESSARY EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
BS degree in Geology, Environmental Science or other related technical field
0 to 3 years related work experience
Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Strong technical writing skills
Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the ability/desire to lead tasks
Strong attention to detail
Willingness to work more than 8 hours per day when necessary for project success
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Coursework in sedimentation/stratigraphy, hydrogeology, and chemistry
MS degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or other related technical field
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
Geologist in Training or ability to obtain GIT
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must pass drug test, possible background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Must have a valid, current Driver’s License
Must be vaccinated against COVID
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES THAT HAVE:
Working experience with AutoCAD and/or GIS Software
Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering/Geology Exam
Experience with power tools and equipment
40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training (OSHA HAZWOPER 8-Hour Refresher as necessary)
WORK CONTEXT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Field activities may require working in inclement weather conditions for an extended period
Ability to stoop, kneel, climb, traverse uneven land surfaces and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
Working in a standing position for most of the field workday (with breaks)
Ability to drive large pick-up trucks
Ability to use hands and fingers to operate field equipment
Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
Must complete and pass a medical monitoring physical exam demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required
Completion of annual employment physical, as required
Ability to read, interpret and apply information on State and Federal technical guidance, and regulations, and compliance determinations
Must be able to read, understand and follow KEMRON SOPs, procedures and policies
Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time on occasion
This is a full-time salaried position reporting to our Marietta, OH office. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Project specific needs may require after hours and weekend work, including travel.
