Olin Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls, a division of Olin Corporation, is seeking an Accountant for the Cost Accounting group. This position will be located at the Lake Jackson, TX site. In this role, you will perform professional accounting work involving compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data and apply accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions. This is intended to be a growth role for an early professional; candidates could expect to develop in the areas of cost accounting in various business segments, financial accounting, and SOX compliance with future relocation opportunities.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for overall daily cost accounting activities, M&E closing process (journal entry preparation) and monthly reporting
  • Specifics of job content will vary to include assisting with journal entries, checking supporting entries, budgeting processes, product costing, physical inventory observations and accurate recording, fixed asset reviews, reporting, analyzing and communicating functional activity and results through well-defined and verifiable steps and analysis.
  • Draft segments of statements and reports.
  • Participate in the preparation of segments of statements and reports for financial analysis.
  • Assist business unit leaders in financial analysis necessary for decision making.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree*; Finance, Accounting, or related disciplines strongly preferred. Master's Degree preferred. CMA or CPA certification preferred.
  • Prior related internship or related work experience up to 5 years' post-graduate; industrial or manufacturing environments preferred; chemical environments strongly preferred.
  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (documentation required). Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.
  • Preferred related accounting experience to include cost accounting, GAAP and SOX procedures and internal controls, general ledger systems and auditing practices and public accounting.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office Products experience.
  • SAP or other Enterprise systems experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills experience to include ability to drive results, collaborate, manage complexity/problem-solving, and effective communication.
