Job Description
SUMMARY

Security of County Offices, employees and patrons utilizing County facilities. Operates metal detectors and x-ray equipment. The Security Officer is responsible for pick-up and delivery of bank deposits for various offices. They are also responsible for distribution of pay checks. The Security Officer patrols hallways, stairways and outside grounds of County buildings. He reports any unusual incidents. The Security Officer is responsible for responding to medical emergencies and panic alarms. He/she determines the problem and uses all means necessary to resolve the problem.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Opening/Closing of facility;
  • Regular interior/exterior patrols of facility;
  • Assist and direct visitors, as needed;
  • Other, related duties as may be required;
  • Pickup/delivery of deposits for timely and safe arrival County offices;
  • Prompt delivery and proper receipt of deposits;
  • Prevention of incidents;
  • Control of County buildings, providing safety to parking lots, and perimeter;
  • Prompt handling of disputes;
  • Prevention of incidents;
  • Security system operation/CCTV;
  • Effective operation of metal detector and X-ray equipment;.
  • Effective teamwork with Sheriff's Office;
  • Proper documentation of incidents;
  • Schedule may include weekends and holidays;
  • The Security Department operates 24/7-365.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Valid PA driver's license;
  • No record of criminal convictions;
  • Prior experience in security or law enforcement recommended;
  • Must be willing to take mandatory defense tactics training classes;
  • Ability to complete: C.P.R training, A.E.D training.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Ability to conduct foot patrol both interior and exterior.
