Job Title: Hearing and Legal Services Officer (Virginia State Bar license) Duration: 16 months Shift Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday - Friday Lunch Period:12:00-1:00pm Job Description:
Knowledge of legal research methodologies, including computerized legal research.
Knowledge of the law and legal system, preferably administrative law and appeals procedures.
Knowledge of acceptable methods of interviewing, controlling small groups, or conducting hearings.
Demonstrated ability to interpret/apply/analyze complex laws, regulations, policies, or case law. Demonstrated ability to meet strict time frames and prioritize workload.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Contacts include administrative staff, hearing participants, and attorneys to obtain or provide information and advice.
Mandatory skills/certification(s) Requirement:
Virginia State Bar license
Duties/Responsibilities:
Conducts state fair hearings, drafts administrative decisions based on law and evidence, manages caseload; meets all regulatory and Appeals Division deadlines
Desired skills:
Knowledge of Medicaid eligibility law and policy preferred
Computer software to be used:
Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Pro, Gmail, Appeals Information Management System (AIMS)
Equipment to be used by the temporary staffing professional(s) :
Computer, audio recorder, telephone
