Position Purpose

As a key member of the Treasury team, you will be part of AgriBank's mission to support the people who feed the world. As the Director of Asset Liability Management, you will monitor financial market conditions, bank balance sheet activity and develop strategies to optimize the AgriBank's asset / liability position and ensure that the bank interest rate risk profile remains within approved Treasury and Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) targets. In addition, you would be responsible for day-to-day oversight of the funding process, develop funding plans and coordinate with the Capital Markets and Liquidity team on debt issuance and derivative execution. Lastly, you will also manage the ALCO governance process for Treasury.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop asset liability management (ALM) and derivative hedging strategies for Treasury
  • Support the development of liquidity, investment strategy and contingency funding plan
  • Review risk profiles, month-over-month changes and variance descriptions
  • Review and contribute to net interest margin forecast and attribution of results
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of funding process and development of funding plan
    • Direct the funding plan and process in support of Interest Rate Risk and liquidity management objectives
  • Monitor economic and financial markets and help develop Treasury market views
  • Support treasury department and lead Asset Liability Management (ALM) team in governance of ALCO and Market Risk Committee (MRC)
  • Collaborate and cooperate with IRR team on policy and assumptions
  • Select, develop, motivate and evaluate the team
  • Provide advice to associations and other bank departments on asset liability risk management matters
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in Farm Credit System discussions and meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics, actuarial science, mathematics, engineering, computer science or a related field
  • 8 years of related experience
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certifications or a MBA in Finance or relevant advanced degree may reduce the experience requirement

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Expert knowledge of interest rate risk and hedging
  • Expert knowledge of banking industry lending, funding and asset/liability management practices
  • Expert knowledge of financial markets and macroeconomic assessment
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Working knowledge of modeling processes and 3rd party asset/liability models
  • Expert skill in processing complex, detailed information in an accurate and thorough manner
  • Expert skill in organizing material and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency
  • Expert research, analytic and valuation skills especially related to capital market instruments, including loan, investment, debt and derivative products
  • Expert skill in Microsoft Office especially advanced Excel functions and VBA
  • Working ability to use database software such as SQL or MS Access to mine and analyze data
  • Skill in selecting, managing, coaching, motivating and developing talent
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor, senior management and Association customers
  • Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of AgriBank's systems and data
