Essential Job Functions
Employee must be skilled in the following tasks:
- Knowledgeable with methods and materials for cabinet finishing
- Skilled in preparing and finishing cabinets for existing buildings and new renovations
- Skilled in preparing, priming, and painting of interior/exterior walls and building furnishings
- Graffiti removal including chemical solutions or mechanical equipment
- Skilled in mixing and matching various paints
- Knowledge and experience with industrial coatings
- Skilled with drywall preparation and finishing
- Ability to maintain or repair airless, HVLP, and conventional pneumatic spray systems
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
-Knowledge of preparation and finishing of cabinetry and painting of interior and exterior walls.
-Perform methods of painting and refinishing to all surfaces pertaining to campus facilities including wood, drywall, masonry, and metal surfaces.
-Knowledge and experience in industrial coating applications.
-Ability to operate all tools and machinery necessary for applied finishes and graffiti removal.
-Ability to communicate and interact well with other employees and departments.
-Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others and the campus community as a whole.
-Knowledge of OSHA regulations, state and local building codes, environmental agency requirements and life safety standards.
-Ability to operate university-owned vehicles with a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of progressive experience in the preparation and finishing of cabinetry and painting of interior and exterior walls.

- Ability to communicate and interact well with other employees and departments.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with subordinates and the campus community as a whole.

- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, state and local building codes, environmental agency requirements and life safety standards.

6:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. or 7:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Due to the inaccessibility of some educational areas during normal working hours, work schedules may vary. Position is subject to call back on evenings and weekends should emergencies occur.

Designated as MANDATORY, this position is expected to be available for work during university emergencies, closings, and adverse weather conditions.

Physical Demands of Position
Employee will be subject to several extremes of heat, cold, dust and dirt on a daily basis. Heavy lifting in excess of 50-100 pounds is also required on a limited basis. Call back situations may necessitate emergency repairs in extremes of inclement weather.

Anticipated Hiring Range $34,180 - $45,320
Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties.
Knowledge-Technical: Performs a variety of recurring and non-recurring tasks/functions. These tasks/functions may involve related or varying processes to test, renovate, overhaul, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on standard building systems. Provides technical assistance to others by troubleshooting standard facilities maintenance issues and determining their cause. Mentors other technicians.

Problem Solving: Anticipates and proactively pursues facilities-related maintenance issues and/or problems. Recognizes inherent problems with procedures and practices and makes suggestions for improvement. May include management, peers, and subordinates in the decision-making process to gain the support and acceptance of all parties.

Client/Customer Service: Identifies and resolves trends and work issues that impact service delivery to groups or individual customers. Makes recommendations to improve service delivery based on customer feedback. Makes recommendations to streamline processes/procedures, remove barriers, and link resources for efficient and effective customer service. Develops creative, alternative solutions to respond to complex service needs.
