Role: NSX Principle Engineer

Location: 100% Remote

Duration: 06 Months Contract to hire

The title for this position is NSX Principal Engineer contract to hire
This is a telecommute position.
The NSX team consists of 5 engineers and 1 manager
The ideal candidate will have an NSX/Network focused background preferably at an enterprise level.
There will be possibly up to 3 rounds of technical phone interviews with the hiring manager, director and engineers.

Positions in this function design, engineer, and manage the organization's infrastructure and operational platforms. From a cloud services model, this includes services commonly thought of as IaaS and PaaS and their underlying foundational components. Additionally, this function also has responsibility for traditional enterprise infrastructure and operational platforms such as email, file transfer, and collaboration technologies, among others. This role must understand functional and non-functional requirements to ensure they can be achieved through system design and engineering to meet the needs of the customers. Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to develop roadmaps for their respective technology portfolios, resolve cross-system and domain dependencies, ensure effective integration among the services offered to the end customer, and efficient usage of infrastructure and operational platforms. Monitor technological advancements and industry trends to influence company standards and ensure that solutions are continuously improved and maintained through product management practices, including recommendations to invest in a solution or retirement of redundant or out-of-date systems. Understand the interactions between systems, the applications and services hosted, and evaluate the impact of changes and additions. Perform analysis on existing systems to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, meet security requirements, and interoperable and maintainable technology portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expertise in VMware NSX technologies with focus on Cisco ACI, Advanced network monitoring and Micro-segmentation
Integrate VMware NSX products with other software and services to provide end to end customer services
Assure 24/7/365 systems availability for NSX and associated components
Assume a leadership role in internal projects that help scale the environment
Utilize VMware vRNI, vROPs, and emerging tools to diagnose and improve network performance in the virtual infrastructure
Assist in the design and engineering of automation for creating virtual networking
Design and engineer network security in a multi-tenant environment
Demonstrate a high level of skill in configuring, troubleshooting, and administering VMware vSphere, ESXi and NSX networking
On-call/off-hours work will be required

Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience with VMware virtualized software defined networks such as VMWare NSX-t, NSX-V and virtual distributed switches
7+ years of experience ensuring network reliability and availability in a large enterprise private cloud infrastructure including firewall and routing technologies
7+ years of experience in information security and network operations
5+ years systems administration with VMWare vSphere/ESXi infrastructure in a large enterprise
5+ years systems administration with Windows Server infrastructure in a large enterprise
5+ years of experience in supporting key components of production systems in a cloud environment (private or public)
5+ years supporting modern secure, scalable, highly available infrastructure
5+ years with PowerShell, PowerCLI, and other scripting languages for accelerating system administration of large groups of servers
5+ years of experience working with change control, incident management, problem management and IT policies in an ITIL driven organization
Knowledge of utilizing VMware vROPs, vRNI and other available tools for alerting and reporting
Knowledge of RHEL/CentOS virtual servers
Knowledge of monitoring, testing methodologies, performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques in networking

Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or large enterprise working experience of 5+ years
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Required skills listed-

a. 7+ years of experience with VMware virtualized software defined networks with VMWare NSX-t, NSX-V and virtual distributed switches (needs to be VMware NSX focused experience not VMware vSphere experience)
b. 7+ years of experience ensuring network reliability and availability in a large enterprise private cloud infrastructure including firewall and routing technologies
