CNC Lathe Machinists – Specifically Mori Seiki & Mazak Lathe
Virtual Gibbs Programming Experience desirable
Position Description:
Advanced level of skilled machinist work requiring a technical degree and 5+years of experience, or equivalent. Without technical supervision, performs the most complex machining and fitting of all kinds and parts, tools, and machines in support of job shop machining. Lay out work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications. Sets up and operates all available machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements. Determine operation sequences. Skillfully uses all machinists’ hand tools and measuring instruments. Familiar with working properties of all materials. Programs CNC machine tools in the course of making parts. Fits and assembles where necessary. At this level machinists serve as technical resources for less experienced machinists.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Knowledge of CNC machine operation, machine code, GD&T
Understand technical documentation, process drawings (blueprints), and engineering specifications
Studies specifications, blueprint, drawings or sample prototypes to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts
Knowledge of programming language preferably Virtual Gibbs
Set up and operate Manual and CNC lathes (Mori Seiki & Mazak)
Change tools setting offsets
Adjust machine to produce a conforming product
Perform in-process inspection of own work while running machine
