Position Description

Position Overview:

Manages and coordinates human resources activities, such as labor relations, employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, training and employee services.


  • Administer human resource policies, procedures and reporting in compliance with state and federal regulation and Emerson Corporate Human Resources.
  • Advises management in appropriate investigation and resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Oversees recruiting, job posting, biding, layoff and recall activities. 
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance and communication of human resource records.
  • Implements and manages employee training and development.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations regarding human resources and employee relations topics.
  • Communicates and administers benefit programs such as insurance and pension plans, vacation, leave of absence and employee assistance.
  • Manages human resources transactions such as new hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations and employee statistics for government reporting.  
  • Participates in safety and health initiatives.
  • Represents the company in the administration of the Union Labor Agreement regarding any revisions to the agreement, the grievance process and negotiations.    

Education, Experience and Skills:

Bachelors Degree and at least 5 years experience as the recognized site Human Resource Leader.

Requires a strong client focus, business acumen and results orientation; both a strategic thinker and able to execute tactics.

Proven ability to identify key issues and develop creative solutions and the ability to drives processes across the organization.

Must have excellent leadership, project management, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Previous experience in a manufacturing union environment is strongly preferred.  

PHR / SPHR Certification is desireable
