Job Description
OVERVIEW
The Product Manager - Retail Channels manages the overall direction of assigned products sold in retail channels.  Working closely with the Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams, this person will create, manage, and execute the product roadmap for a portfolio of power products including, but not limited to surge protection, chargers, power inverters, and accessories. The Product Manager reports to the Director of Product Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Planning and Development:
  • Overall product roadmap owner and product expert in assigned categories.
    • Support Sales teams with product questions and requirements; manage and own specs/details of products in assortment; recommend product assortment for customers.
  • Evaluate competitive landscape.
    • Conduct and maintain competitive analysis and research of assigned products (type, pricing, packaging, positioning); identify strengths and weaknesses to assist in establishing competitive pricing; provide sales tools for selling.
  • Gather and provide customer/market feedback to Product Development to drive new product development activities.
  • Manage product marketing throughout lifecycle (development through discontinuation).
    • SKU creation in US, support for retail/ distribution setup, etc.
  • Define product positioning in competitive landscape.
  • Assist in item forecasting and pricing.
    • Work within the Product Management team to establish pricing strategies to maximize sales and profitability while limiting channel conflict.
Product Marketing and Training:
 
  • Work with Marketing team to ensure successful product launch, promotion of products, and the development of launch kits.
  • Assist Marketing team with the development of retail product support material.
  • Create product training material and provide internal and external product training as necessary.
  • Assist in management of internal communication and external vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with packaging team to develop best in class retail product packaging.
Sales:
 
  • Assist with developing product strategy to be presented to customers.
  • Provide Sales team with market intelligence to support strategies being promoted.
  • Support customer calls and/or visits when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in product management or product marketing in a technology field (power products preferred but not required) including a record of increased responsibilities and results.
  • Preferred experience in supporting retail channels.
  • Leadership and influencing skills.
  • Ability to learn and understand the technology associated with power products.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Proficiency in communication, word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
