Bailiwick currently seeks an experienced Field Technician/Field Engineer to contribute to our ongoing success and growth. Occasional travel may be required.
The Field Technician/Field Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support for all survey, design and delivery activities as it relates to Bailiwick IT deployment services. This individual will primarily support projects for one major client but may be engaged to support other client projects as needed.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
* Specialist Activities including assisting in the development and/or refining of processes for client support, design and deliverables; assuming responsibility for client site surveys, design documents, Bill of Material (BOM) creation, and other engineering support as it relates to physical layer / structured cabling and wireless projects (specifically, survey and design drawing preparation and updates, survey results review and summarization, basic wireless AP placement, Aerohive Hive manager data inputs, cable remediation and circuit extension scope development, and physical layer obstruction notes for design); managing document and print preparation and review to meet project schedule; managing assigned projects to meet or beat the Engineering budget through diligence in effort and change order management with the Project Management team; and performing other tasks as requested by the Director of Engineering.
* Business Management including monitoring Bill of Material (BOM) creation practices and providing input on business practices and efficiencies.
* Customer and Vendor Interface and Communication including participating in customer presentations and visits; traveling to customer locations when required; interfacing with vendor partners regarding technical issues and deliverable clarifications; and establishing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships with internal and external contacts.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* Bachelors degree or equivalent related work experience
* BICSI cabling certification strongly desired
* Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) industry or manufacturer certification strongly desired
* Minimum 4 years physical layer direct field installation management
* Minimum 2 years related experience involving wireless systems installations
* Proven experience in managing and interpreting detailed site surveys to drive site scope development
* Previous experience in VoIP conversions from a physical layer, cross connects and basic telephony
* Experience related to IT deployment initiatives, remodel/construction, physical layer or other related field
* Broad understanding of WLAN environments
* Excellent attention to detail
* Systems Evaluation skills (ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goal of the system)
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite tools including intermediate to advanced Word and Excel skills
* Ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer facing and interaction skills
* Ability to accurately track, troubleshoot and problem solve
* Ability to offer ideas on process improvements
* Enthusiastic with exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
* Aerohive systems experience desired
* Airmagnet, LANPlanner, Ekahau or equivalent design and verification tool experience desired
* Previous experience and understanding of predictive design for wireless networks, validations of wireless networks coverage, and VoIP network conversions desired
* Any other relevant certification(s) a plus
