Job Description

Summary
Responsible for the day to day management of the Sample Login Group. Plan, coordinate and direct the operations of the group. Supervisor must be aware of budget requirements and profitability goals. Supervisor must have knowledge and expertise of operations related to the Sample Login Group.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:
* Supervise staff assigned to the section, ensuring quality of service, technical competence of staff, productivity and technical expansion.
* Motivate staff through feedback and clear definition of expectations.
* Promote a high degree of morale
* Evaluate section personnel by conducting interviews for potential hires and conduct performance reviews.
* Access training needs and conduct training classes.
* Serve a primary communication line to section personnel for information and application of policies and procedures.
* Participate in development of the annual expense budget for the section.
* Initiate ways to help group improve and minimize down time.
* Demonstrate dependability in the completion of assignments, within quality, budget and time requirements.
* Maintain effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions or while performing a variety of assignments.
* Awareness of all expenditures within department to ensure group meets profitability goals.
* Ensure compliance of Pace Analytical Services, Inc. Policies & Standard Operating Procedures to include safety policies and procedures.
* Direct and coordinate sample receipt from couriers, common carriers, and walk-ins; supervise the triage, setting up and checking of samples, logging of samples, and scanning and placement of samples to storage; maintain cooler temperature and IR gun records; coordinate sample disposal; directing and documenting sample subcontracting and subcontract shipping; and ordering of group related supplies and expendables.

Qualifications

* Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or equivalent at a minimum. Previous supervisory experience - 1+ years preferred. Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.
* Work Environment - The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally may work near moving mechanical parts and may be aocasionally ecexposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
* Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively at a highly technical level both verbally and in writing. Communicate effectively with laboratory management and project management.
* Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
* Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Computer Skills - Proficient use of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office products especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and the ability to multi task between products.
