We are seeking a highly motivated and seasoned Safety Coordinator/Specialist to support 1000 employees in 26 different states. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing training programs and writing reports that are intended to document whether the transportation & warehouse safety programs are successful and will make recommendations of changes that can be made to improve overall safety programs. They will oversee DOT and OSHA regulatory compliance programs and assist the Director of Safety in the development of better risk mitigation programs. The Compliance Coordinator/Specialist is also be responsible for overseeing all record keeping for driver training programs and expected to participate in the new hire orientation programs. You must be willing to promote and foster a "Safety First" culture. This position will work out of our Oakdale, MN location and reports to the Director of Safety.

In this position, your main responsibilities would be:

  • Ensures that company and federally administered compliance regulations are followed.
  • Implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of Hours of Service for our company drivers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Report required information to Local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies.
  • Intake and follow-up on company accident/incident investigations, reports of employee injuries and vehicular incidents.
  • Work closely with Safety Assistant to ensure that driver qualification files are accurate and completed within defined regulation period.
  • Conduct semi-annual warehouse safety audits and implement appropriate changes to correct or comply with regulations and company standards. This includes ensuring all warehouse equipment meets safety regulations and that all equipment and tools are used correctly by employees.
  • Responsible for ensuring that proper care and maintenance for all facilities and equipment. Any and all areas used by employees, customers, vendors, must be free of hazards at all times. Also, all equipment such as fire extinguishers, PPE and ergonomic devices must be available and in good working condition.
  • Designs training for all levels of employees & ensure personnel training and corrective action follow up are completed. This is in conjunction with the HR department disciplinary policies.
  • Develops and implements accident investigation, data analysis, and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.
  • Forklift training & certification of warehouse personnel's to include by location & equipment.
  • Available hours Monday through Friday 8-5.
  • Some travel required.

We prefer the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years Transportation/Warehouse/Manufacturing experience required. Education may be considered in lieu of work experience.
  • Familiarity with driver E-Log Systems required (preferably PeopleNet).
  • Strong understanding of safety laws, regulations, and language to include DOT and OSHA regulations is required.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Candidate must possess good interpersonal and management skills, strong oral/written communication skills as well as strong organization skills.
  • Completion of FMCSA and DOT Compliance training preferred not required.
  • Forklift Certified OSHA Approved & OSHA Safety Certification preferred not required.
