Respecting Abilities. Reaching for Opportunities. Realizing Dreams.
Founded in 1923 by Alvina Hammer, Hammer was only one of two Minnesota organizations at that time to offer people with disabilities the opportunity to thrive in a school and home setting. 90 years later, we remain true to Miss Hammer’s founding vision: we are a community of people who respect the individual’s abilities, whose collective spirit makes dreams come true and whose innovations continue to lead the way.
Hammer is an innovative organization which values open communication and flexibility. We recognize that professional, self-motivated staff members are the key to our continued success. Our high retention rates are a direct result of having a supportive working environment which encourages employees to grow both professionally and personally.
We continually look for ways to add value and benefit to the work experience. New employees quickly come to appreciate the dedication of their fellow employees to Hammer’s mission to provide adults and children with developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience life to its fullest
We are a community of people who respect an individual’s abilities, whose spirit supports dreams coming true and whose innovation leads the way.
