Central City Concern (CCC) serves single adults and families in the Portland metro area impacted by homelessness, poverty and addictions. We meet our mission of providing comprehensive solutions to ending homelessness and achieving self-sufficiency through innovative, outcome-based strategies that support personal and community transformation.
Founded in 1979, CCC has developed a comprehensive continuum of affordable housing options integrated with direct social services including health care, substance use disorder treatment services and employment. Today, we serve 14,000 people annually with:
Empowered by our staff, donors, partners and volunteers, we’re creating a proven solution for our community — one person at a time.
Central City Concern helps those struggling with life’s biggest problems to end or avoid homelessness and build healthy, housed, resilient and engaged lives. Our vision is a future in which nobody in our community has to experience the pain and harm of homelessness.
At CCC, you’ll work alongside people of all backgrounds and walks of life. Here are some of the ways we support an inclusive culture:
As a CCC employee, you’ll work with people whose lived experiences and cultural backgrounds differ from yours. That’s intentional — and it’s rooted in our mission to counteract the legacy of systemic injustice and its impacts on the present.
We know that Black, Indigenous and other people of color and members of the LGBTQIA+ community experience homelessness at a far higher rate. This has created stark differences in our society. It is unacceptable.
CCC is working to address inequities within our agency and among the clients we serve. Our push for inclusion was first formalized in the early 2000s. But we’ve been at this work much longer — more than 40 years. While we know that systemic change takes time, we can, and will, do better.
Achieving Central City Concern’s mission would be impossible without dedicated, compassionate people.
When you join our team, you’re part of a staff that’s driven to make a difference at all levels of the organization — and across fields including health care, pharmacy, social services, housing, nonprofit leadership and administration.
From professional staff to medical assistants to maintenance workers, we value both formal education and lived experience as preparation for the work we do. This aspect of our culture means you’ll have a chance to make an impact from day one.
CCC’s work environment is collaborative, supportive and offers generous benefits. You’ll also find many opportunities for professional growth to help you realize your full potential.
