Company Overview
In February 1996, Minneapolis Community College and Minneapolis Technical College combined more than 100 years of history and experience to become Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC). Today, MCTC is the tenth largest post-secondary institution in Minnesota, and the only public two-year college located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.

A member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system, MCTC enrolls more than 11,000 students each year in its credit-based programs and another 6,500 in continuing education and training programs. It offers more than 50 career/technical programs to help students enter the workforce quickly and 47 liberal arts programs for transfer to a four-year college or university.

MCTC has a strong record of educating and training under-served urban residents including large numbers of low-income people and people of color.

The College sits on the edge of the Minneapolis Federal Urban Empowerment Zone, one of 87 federal areas designated in 1993 by the Clinton administration as the most impoverished in the country. Forty percent of MCTC students have a home address within these at-risk Minneapolis neighborhoods. More than 30 percent of MCTC's students live in neighborhoods with average household incomes below $25,000. More than 62 percent receive some form of financial aid. Nearly one-fourth of students are the first in their families to attend college.

MCTC is the most ethnically diverse college in the state, with one of the largest English-as-a-Second-Language Programs at a Minnesota two-year college. More than 80 languages and unique dialects are spoken on campus. More than 44 percent of students at MCTC are people of color.

MCTC is financially sound; supported by state and federal funding, foundations, corporate giving programs, and private donations.
