Job Description

Job Description:

As a Mental Health Worker you need to know how to:

Assist with planning and instruction in all areas of the educational program, including: arts and academics, physical, affective and behavioral development.
Establish a safe and structured environment where each child can thrive.
Be responsible for the classroom program in the absence of the teacher.
Manage individual children and groups in the event of a crisis and provide direct, immediate and effective intervention with therapeutic follow-up.
Coordinate with treatment leaders, teachers and therapists regarding therapeutic and milieu planning and complete milieu reports in conjunction with teachers.
Keep up-to-date records (attendance, logging, progress) which are accurate and informative, and assist with evaluation of childrens work.
Know and implement crisis prevention/intervention techniques (i.e. TCI, time-out, locked door quiet room) as well as procedures (i.e. runaway, injury, emergency).
Maintain current certifications (e.g., TCI, Lower levels, CPR, First Aid, AED, EVOLV and Universal Precautions) and trainings (e.g., NMT, Somatosensory).
Participate in Service Plan Quarterly Reviews and additional staffing related to children in their classroom.
Attend medication consults with the psychiatrist as needed.
Safely transport the children using agency vehicles as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in field of human services, required

- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience with residential/milieu programming or serving children with special needs, preferred-
Current
-Drivers License and must obtain Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of moving to Colorado, required-
-Motor vehicle record and proof of automobile insurance coverage to be updated annually, required
-Maintain current certifications (e.g., TCI, Lower levels, CPR, First Aid, AED, EVOLV and Universal Precautions) and trainings (e.g., NMT, Somatosensory).
