Our client, a leading land-grant University in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a talented Instructional Designer to join their Office of Human Resources. This is temporary position for coverage during a maternity leave, the duration is 16 weeks. If you enjoy using a variety of skills such as learning experience design, eLearning development, technical writing, and being part of a team, this is the role for you.

Expected Duration: Sept 26th, 2022 - Jan 6th, 2023

40 hours / week, Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm (excluding University holidays)

Fully remote, candidate must be based in USA.

Candidate must provide their own technology and have experience with Captivate software.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

50% - Create and maintain end-user documentation and training materials to support HRMS Users

* Update course content based on system / application updates using a variety of applications such as Drupal, Canvas, and Adobe Captivate.

* Develop and maintain learning experiences that may include courses, websites, online learning modules, and other learning artifacts using course management software, web authoring tools, and eLearning technologies to meet strict timelines.

* Assist in creation of course materials such as reference manuals and job aids for users.

* Create new course content through the use of current and emerging technologies, applying knowledge of educational theory and best practices in instructional design, and while remaining consistent with the standards of the Training Services team.

* Format materials for consistency across curricula.

* Conduct assessment of training needs with multiple stakeholders.

* Effectively work with various subject matter experts in the development of courses.

* Identify and suggest ways to improve training materials and training department business processes.

* Ensure the quality and consistency of course content throughout the course life cycle

30% - Gather detailed information from subject matter experts about changes to HRMS system and processes, and determine what new training materials are needed or where existing materials need to be updated

* Conduct pedagogical evaluations and assessments to ensure program effectiveness and recommends/implements modifications as necessary

* Plan and implement technical training programs that will prepare employees for the next step of their career paths

* Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts

* Collaborate across the department, functions and businesses we support by leveraging strong interpersonal skills to discern individual needs that result in the best outcome for all parties involved

* Communicate effectively through active listening to understand needs, and clearly articulate your intent based on those needs and the style preferences of the audience

* Serve as instructional design expert within project or launch teams across business lines when educational programs are being planned, developed and delivered to all target audiences

20% - Initiate, lead, and complete training projects with limited supervision

* Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience's training needs

* Define instructional objectives and create content that measures success of learners' ability to achieve them

* Design instructional media, interactions, and the finished instructional deliverables with a learner-centered approach

* Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods

* Design, develop, deliver, and measure exercises and activities that enhance the learning process, when applicable

* Decide on the criteria used to judge learner's performance and develop assessment instruments

* Apply knowledge and skills in instructional design, development processes, tools, strategies, delivery, and evaluation methods

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* BA/BS in Adult Education, Instructional Design, or related field, or related work experience of at least four years.

* Experience with course authoring software (i.e., Captivate, Articulate) and at least one Learning Management System (i.e., Canvas, Moodle).

* Experience creating technology-related reference materials or job aids.

* Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models (i.e. ADDIE, SAM).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with PeopleSoft

* Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud

* Adaptable and prepared to learn new systems and technology

* Ability to multitask and manage several projects effectively

* Strong interpersonal/consultative skills.

* Strong attention to detail

* Ability to think critically and work through issues independently
