Job Details
Job Summary:
- Develop and monitor internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, state and Canadian income and related tax laws.
- Prepare annual tax provisions and updates for proper payment of taxes
- Assist with tax return preparations by third-party accounting firm.
- Manage company equity plans and payment of shareholder tax payments, etc.
- Manage and track tax related data for company transportation and provide tax impact studies for deductible expenses.
- Provide management and franchisee community with periodic updates with respect to changes in the tax laws that would have an impact on company business.
- Manage Federal, state and city tax audits for income and sales and use tax.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in tax and accounting or related occupation.
- Active CPA License, or CPA in progress
- Four-year degree in accounting or finance
- Ability to determine taxable adjustments to company GAAP income.
- Knowledge of executive compensation plans and related tax rules and regulations.
- Knowledge and advanced skills in the operation of financial general ledger software and related reporting tools, Excel, and ad hoc report writing tools.
- Detailed knowledge of Federal income tax principles; working knowledge of state income and apportionment rules, as well as Canadian income tax laws.
- Ability to analyze data and trends and develop recommendations for changes in programs/processes.
- Ability to develop, initiate and implement new procedures and manage process improvements to enhance the workflow of the department.
