Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the Management of the Accounting Department for the Vendor Services division of Mitsubishi HC Capital America, Inc. This person would be responsible for ensuring the accounting operation and its processes have a strong control environment to prevent issues that may misstate financial results.

The Accounting Manager will be a part of a team that maintains and implements process improvements where appropriate in order to ensure the close and reporting process are efficient and accurate. The Accounting Manager must be able to work under tight deadlines and provide timely, high-quality and accurate work product.

The incumbent must understand, abide and uphold the system of internal controls related to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the Accounting Department which involves ensuring all key processes are conducted in accordance with their design to insure operational effectiveness and abidance of policies.
  • Execute and coordinate the month-end close process for the Vendor Services division2.
  • Business process owner for the Minnesota financial close and reporting, accounts payable, fixed assets, revenue recognition and other key processes over financial reporting.
  • SOX documentation (narratives, FC) are updated to reflect the current process and proper controls are operating effectively.
  • Review financial results and provide variance commentary in comparison to budget.
  • Coordinate annual/quarterly financial audit information as requested by HQ internal audit group as well as the external auditors and Corporate HQ.
  • Manage the recording of lease/loan assets and disbursement processes are correct and appropriate.
  • Manage the accounts payable process ensuring policies such as travel, entertainment and business and vendor management policies are followed.
  • Work with HQ and other businesses to unify comparable processes to gain efficiencies and contain costs.
  • Special projects as requested

  • Consistent on-time completion of recurring deliverables, including but not limited to month-end close, department meetings, account reconciliations and task management completion via Blackline.
  • To facilitate productive and meaningful two-way 1:1 meeting with individual direct reports

Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority:

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The department will be managed by the Accounting Manager - Vendor Services.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook applications
  • US GAAP and FAS 13 accounting understanding a plus

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of applicable experience (leasing or banking environment a plus)
Licensing and Certification:
  • CPA a plus

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer, copier, fax, phone, and other typical office equipment

Working Hours:

  • Hours may vary; typically requires working 40 hours/week
  • May require working overtime particularly at month-end and year-end
  • May require working weekends to meet month-end, year-end, and filing deadlines

Travel

  • Occasional travel related to attendance at industry seminars

Physical Demands:

  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
  • Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
  • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another

Salary Range: ($98,600 - $126,000) per year, plus a discretionary Bonus.

The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, and education.
