Job Description
Tru Vue Inc.

Purpose: The Cell Technician is responsible for complete ownership of their assigned cell. The primary responsibility is to ensure production flow that meets or exceeds all components of OEE (Yield, Availability, & Performance). Cell Technicians will perform the set-up and programming of equipment, the loading & unloading of materials, and oversee the flow of material through the cell. Cell Technicians will train and lead production technicians assigned to the cell. Cell Technicians will be involved with 6S, Continuous Improvement, TPM, and other activities to improve the performance of the cell.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure assigned cell meets equipment & personnel safety guidelines.
  • Retain communication with Supervisor, Lead, Quality, Process Technicians, and Maintenance to ensure the course of production is maintained throughout the shift.
  • Plan and locate required materials by reading production schedules and doing SAP transactions.
  • Communicate with Material Handlers to ensure timely delivery of required materials.
  • Operate assigned PIV equipment (Forklift, Tugger, Crane, etc.) to load/unload materials.
  • Program/Set-up materials and equipment within the cell per SOP.
  • Perform required material transactions in SAP.
  • Audit Material SAP transactions to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure staffing requirements are present for required job. Monitor staffing performance (safety, quality, & SOP) and train/assist as necessary.
  • Monitor production flow to ensure OEE metrics are met.
  • Report hourly production data in required systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues within the cell. Communicate in a timely manner with key resources to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Document OEE misses with Response Cards by using root cause analysis.
  • Document shift production data for cell and participate in end-of shift summary meetings.
  • Serve as back-up Material Handler as required.
  • Perform other duties as required: including production break and vacation coverage, vent activities, and special projects.

6s Responsibilities

  • Responsible for 6s daily, weekly, monthly activities
  • General housekeeping utilizing the End of Shift Cleaning Checklist
  • Shadow boards
  • Upkeep and painting of lines, guardrails, labeling of floor and equipment decals.
  • Cleaning of conveyors, turntables and robot suction cups.

Daily, Weekly, Monthly PMs

  • Inspect Forklift, Crane, Tugger, Stoce spreader bar, Slings, as needed based on daily inspection forms.
  • Conduct daily cell preventative maintenance (TPM).
  • Daily Walk-thrus (Gemba) - Supervisor, Quality, & Maintenance

Training Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Training Department regularly to ensure Standard Operating Procedures stay current and uploaded into SharePoint accordingly.
  • Train all new EE's (Full-time & Part-time) to Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to work cell.
  • Evaluate employee's performance within the work cell and give regular feedback to Employee, Supervisor, Production Manager, Training Department & HR.
  • Ability to cross train between work cells to support coverage of breaks, vacation, or absenteeism.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Organize and conduct break relief / roster within the cell.
  • Submit and complete Continuous Improvements within the Cell.
  • SAP transactions and auditing
  • OEE Cards / Database
  • Vent tracking
  • Database Daily Summary / Re-cap
  • Daily Inspections - PIV, Equipment, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

(Include education, experience, special skills and licenses or certifications required.)

Education and Experience: (minimum requirements)

  • High School education or equivalency preferred Trade School education helpful
  • Two years work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to read English Basic math skills
  • Ability to use and read tape measure
  • Comfortable operating Powered Industrial Equipment
  • Basic awareness of factory safety
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work in team environment

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

PPE such as steel toe boots/shoes are worn, Kevlar sleeves and gloves, Cain Mesh aprons, Safety Glasses, hearing protection, and other devices are worn to protect Personal from hazards during the performance of work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, , bend, lift, carry and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear and reach with hands and arms. This position is defined as Medium Work by the Department of Labor. The following physical abilities are required to perform the task:

  • Lifting < 50 pounds at a time, frequent lifting/carrying objects weighting < 25 pounds.
  • Good deal of walking or standing. Head and neck will be in the standing position with frequent flexing and rotation. Visual acuity of 20/20-30, with or without corrected vision.
  • Lifting for up to 25% of the workday. Lifting standards are:
  • Floor to waist - 60 lbs.
  • Arm lift - 30 lbs.
  • High near lift - 60 lbs
  • High far lift - 20 lbs.
  • Push/Pull Drum Cart - 350 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling of arms and ability to grasp with both hands; fine manipulation, simple and firm.
  • Bending, stooping and crouching at times, if required.
  • Use of either the right or left foot to operate foot control, if present.

The position routinely requires verbal and written communication in English in order to complete the daily business requirements. Verbal communications include, but are not limited to: team meetings, work instructions to team members, communications with peers and management, and safety instructions and training.
