As the strategy director for fraud, you and your team will develop fraud policy and a continuous monitoring routine with the primary objective of minimizing BCFs fraud losses. You will be responsible for applying your strategic and analytical skills to strengthen BCFs Fraud defenses. The ideal person for this role provides thought leadership and is also willing to get their hands dirty if the job requires. This person would lead a key function to support fast ramp-up of the product while collaborating closely with BCFs data science, engineering, operations and marketing teams. In this role, you will:

  • Hire and manage a team of experienced fraud policy and strategy professionals
  • Develop fraud strategies to keep our fraud loss low and our conversion rate high
  • Provide guidance to team members on general fraud questions and procedures
  • Develop and manage communication channels and information-sharing forums including a central knowledge base, stakeholder updates, and leadership summaries
  • Maintain portfolio quality by assisting in the underwriting of loans and in the development of loan modifications and strategies
  • Lead complex investigations when potential rings or patterns of fraud are identified
  • Own end-to-end analytics workflow, including defining success and performance metrics, socializing them across the organization, and creating actionable dashboards and reports
  • Own analyses to evaluate effectiveness of current Fraud strategy (ex: models, rules, data sources), identify new fraud trends as well as evaluate new fraud data sources to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive efforts to evaluate and test new fraud data sources by leveraging data and analytics

Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Business, Science or Computer Science
  • Relevant college internship and/or work experience in an analysis discipline (such as business and data analytics, statistics, or consulting)
  • 6+ years of Fraud/Risk Management experience
  • Proven track record of people management, including experience managing nimble, distributed, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience working at a hands on level with other groups like engineers, product managers, data analysts, operations analysts in building operations processes and systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, consulting, data science or risk management

Location and Travel

BCF is headquartered in Belcourt, North Dakota with a satellite office in both Minneapolis, Minnesota and Atlanta, Georgia. This position can be located at any office, although travel to all offices will be required. Under normal (post-pandemic) circumstances, travel will also be required to attend industry conferences and may also be required for vendor management, both of which may vary at times. Total travel should flex between 0% and 25% per month.
