Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Health Safety and Environment Specialist, are to:

The role to be can located at our Kunia, HI or Kihei, HI site.

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for safety and environmentalprograms (OSHA, DOH, EPA, etc.) and guide, mentor, train, and coach Program Owners and site personnel (~600EE) to ensure overall compliance of specific safety programs;
  • Ensure the freedom of operation of the sites in the region by compliance with legislation and the corporate requirements related to the environment, safety and occupational medicine;
  • Collaborate closely with HSE Specialists and Technicians across thestate to ensure compliance, consistency and use of best practices across Hawaii;
  • Manage employee training process including initial orientation for allnew employees, refresher training, job proficiency/competency processes and training records;
  • Function as Hawaii region HSE LMS / Training administrator and technical advisor within the region;
  • Collaborate with Human Resources experts and external developers to coordinate and develop training material for HSE related topicsincluding 40+ HSE specialized training curriculums;
  • Work across Hawaii locations to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of Hawaii HSE programs and procedures to assure personnel, contractor and facility compliance to regulatory and company requirements;
  • Participate in facility HSE compliance audits, inspections, and riskassessments, including participation during corporate audits;
  • Influence key partners in a cross-functional environment to driveresults, innovation, and collaboration at multi-functional sites;
  • Collaborate with HSE team members across the site; mentors, coaches and maintains a healthy working environment;
  • Collaborate and will lead and/or participate on multifunctional teams, including interactions with Business, Site and Functional personnel at all levels of the organization, including: leadership, operational, and technical personnel;
  • Position entails driving a company vehicle. This may include being required to drive greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle OR being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties - regardless of mileage.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or Safety management, Teaching or related field;
  • At least four years of experience in safety, engineering or science discipline to include two years of direct experience managing/overseeing HSE compliance training programs;
  • Technical experience and acumen with OSHA, EPA, and other State and Federal Government training requirements;
  • General knowledge of adult learning strategies;
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills including the capability to clearly present information to influence others through oral or written means;
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem-solving skills;
  • Technical computer skills, knowledge and demonstrated ability to apply adult learning strategies in diverse environments;
  • Collaboration and problem-solving skills and developing relationships to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet guidelines based on the company's Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional designation (CSP, RSO, CIH, CHMM, etc.);
  • Experience implementation ISO-like HSE Management Systems.

Domestic Relocation may be provided for this role.
