Job Purpose: You are a supportive and communicative team member. You develop, teach, and maintain companion animal training class curriculum and programs to aid pet owners in safely and humanely working with their pet's behavior through positive reinforcement training techniques.
Schedule: Full-time 32-40 hours. Tuesday or Wednesday through Saturday
Shift times: Training classes are on-site, in evenings from 5:30-9:00 and on-site, Saturdays from 9a-1p. Office work is more flexible and may be done remotely
Pay: $ 18.75
What you will be doing:
Training - Instruct group and private dog training classes. Provide prompt, regular, clear feedback and information to clients attending training programs in regards to animal behavior and handling.
Customer Service - Assist and support the public with questions and concerns about animal behavior.
Communication - Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information.
Support - Assist in the development, writing, and updating of the curriculum for training programs. Facilitate the preparation and analysis of reports to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress, and activity levels of the department. Help train, support, coach, and provide feedback to volunteers and apprentices. Provide support and information to other departments in regards to behavior and training concerns.

What we are looking for:
Experience - Minimum of 2 years of animal training or behavior consultation experience with positive reinforcement methods or equivalent preferred. CPDT certification preferred.
Computer Skills - Proficient with computers, specifically, a working knowledge of Microsoft products.
Adaptability - Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations and the willingness to assist at other sites. Must be able to tailor communication style to the individual and the situation.
Communication - Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a team member and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.
Schedule - Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours as defined by leadership with the expectation to work varied hours including evening and weekend shifts.
Physical & Emotional Capabilities - Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must have a high level of resiliency.
