About this position
Processes, embeds, cuts and stains tissue sections for pathological examinations. Provides and communicates information to authorized sources.

Education
* High School diploma or GED equivalent required. * Associate degree in Histotechnology or Laboratory Science from an accredited institution; or, prior to April 24, 1995 qualified as a technician according to CLIA's 'Grandfather' provision or, has equivalent experience and been deemed competent.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Minimum of one year current laboratory experience in a clinic or hospital required. * Ability to perform assigned histology duties which include embedding, cutting, and staining. * Ability to assist pathologist with gross specimen analysis. * Knowledge of common special stains. * Ability to operate laboratory computer system as appropriate.
Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory
ASCP certification or equivalent required within 6 months of hire and maintained as a condition of continued employment - NMHC Standard
