Global raw material chemical supplier is looking to fill a strategic Sales Manager position based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a very successful organization focused on selling raw material chemicals to industrial manufacturing markets. Some of the key markets for this territory are; CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers), HI&I Compounding (household, institutional and industrial - cleaners), Water Treatment, Chemical Manufacturing, and General Industrial Manufacturing. This is a sales manager role, responsible for leading and managing a team of 5 outside sales professionals. It's an exciting, fast-paced, and challenging position; and a solid income and career growth opportunity as well. Overnight travel will be approximately 10%.

Responsibilities: Successfully lead and manage a team of 5 sales professionals responsible for a territory covering Minnesota, Northwest Wisconsin, and North Dakota. The team will be selling a broad range of commodity and specialty chemicals to general industrial manufacturing markets. The business requires selling on both a commercial level and sometimes on a technical level to chemists, formulators, and purchasing personnel. Each salesperson manages an existing territory, prospects for and develops new opportunities at existing accounts, as well as develops new accounts. Manage district pricing, trouble shooting, new product introductions, etc. Communicate effectively with management, suppliers, and customers. Develop the sales team strategy for the territory. Effectively address any sales performance issues. Hire as needed, and provide sales training as needed.

Requirements: 5+ years of chemical industry, or related industrial, sales experience, along with at least 3 years of successful sales management experience. In the absence of chemical industry experience, some type of industrial sales & sales management experience involving hundreds of products, a high volume of transactions & activity, and a large number of industrial accounts. A strong track record of sales & sales management success. A college degree is required, but the concentration is open. Must be very professional, self-motivated, and have the ability to manage many activities, products, accounts, pricing, etc.

Compensation: Base salary: $120,000 - $140,000 (commensurate with experience). Plus, a quarterly bonus plan: 20-25% of base salary per year is realistic average; there is no cap so it can be much higher. Company car or car allowance. Excellent company benefits. Opportunities for advancement.
