Position Description: The Dean of College & Career Readiness is a 12-month member of the Instructional faculty who works closely with the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) and College Success Teams. They are responsible for building the College & Career Readiness Curriculums (in accordance with the CWSP & College Success Curriculum Benchmark Tools) and support members of the faculty to embed college and career readiness curriculum into their classes. The Dean of College & Career Readiness works collaboratively with the CWSP and College Success Teams to produce meaningful professional resources, and tools leveraged by internal and external stakeholders. The scope of their work includes continuous evaluation, assessment, and redesign to fit evolving college and career readiness needs.
Responsibilities:
Workforce Readiness Training
- Continuously evaluate, revise, and implement workplace preparedness programming for incoming freshmen. This involves developing curriculum, lesson plans, activities and student assessments .
- Integrate Cristo Rey Network CWSP Curriculum and Benchmarks into CWSP program and Business Literacy class curriculum.
- Work with CWSP Director of Operations to modify CWSP curriculum on a yearly basis to align program with performance data, office and school goals.
- With CWSP Team, develop and coordinate professional development program for returning sophomores, juniors and seniors.
Business Literacy Classes, grade
- Teach, coordinate support, and organize Business Literacy classes, scheduled once a week for each grade level. Teaching responsibilities include unit and lesson planning, weekly formative assessment and regular summative assessment for grade-reporting purposes.
- Leads 2-year design strategy to build 4-year curriculum design implementation of College and Career Readiness Curriculum
Program Management, College Success
- With College Success Team, align College Success curriculum with course objectives
- With College Success Team, teach College 101 Course, designed to teach independence, and prepare students with financial literacy and life skills.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate essential cross-curricular academic and Executive Function skills
- Develop programming to increase family and student knowledge of the college process, including financial aid, effective habits, and college applications.
- Collect and analyze Cristo Rey and alumni data, to improve and inform Cristo Rey College & Career Readiness preparedness programming.
CWSP Academic Representative
- Attend grade 9 academic meetings and report information/ metric/ suggestions back to CWSP team.
- Coordinate with network counterparts for best practices and proven strategies.
- With CWSP Team, support the design, and implementation of CWSP grading policies and procedures.
- Assist with tasks as directed by CWSP Director of Operations & Director of College Success.
- Collaborate with CRJ teachers to embed CACR curriculum into classes.
- Research and coordinate PSEO program.
- With Dean of 12th grade Achievement, coordinate National Honor Society Program.
- Support the integration of executive functioning skills tied to long term college and career success.
- Serve as a member of the Academic Leadership Team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a major, minor, or comparable credential of content expertise in the primary teaching discipline
- Knowledge of best practices in secondary education
- Proficiency using technology to advance teaching and learning
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Competency in Google Suite
- Competency in designing and implementing curricula to serve a heterogeneous student population diverse in culture, religion, and ability
- Ability to connect with culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families
- Commitment to the mission of CRJHS
- Complete training sign a Code of Conduct, and pass a background
Preferred Experience
- Preferred
- Teaching license in the primary teaching discipline
- Master's Degree in Education or content area
- Prior successful high school teaching experience with traditionally underserved students
- Experience with teaching students in need of significant academic support
