Compass Consultants has a 50-year history of providing leading edge, professional engineering services and consulting for the telecommunications industry. Our current expertise includes data, video, COE, and outside plant engineering.


As a Telecom Engineer you will provide engineering design and project coordination for clients in the telecommunications industry.


Responsibilities include:

  • Project Management, oversight, and monitoring for projects as needed
  • Develop and prepare responses for, RFPs, ITNs, RFIs, B2B Grants, USDA loan/grant applications
  • Contract scrubs for risk mitigation and assessment of obligations, provide recommendations
  • Environmental Reviews, Assessments, Regulatory Clearances
  • Interpret contract language, SLA obligations, government agreements, NOFAs, FOAs, FCC orders, etc
  • Understand and represent varying broadband funding availabilities
  • Scrub and compare agreements identifying variances between dependent contracts or conflicting obligations
  • Draft and develop SOPs, UDPs, Construction assist (for avoidance or mitigation) docs as need
  • Compliance for NHPA Section 106, ESA Section 7, CWA section 401 and RHA Section 10

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Five or more years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Three or more years of experience with federal and state funded broadband projects. Including but not limited to grant/loan application and environmental report coordination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of RUS loan, Reconnect, and Boarder to Boarder grant applications
  • Familiarity with environmental reports
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of basic network components
  • PE licensure preferred or ability to obtain within 2 years.
  • Valid driver's license free from inordinate amount of violations
