The Reporting Associate is responsible for creating and executing the end reporting products for CarVal Investors' internal and external stakeholders as well as having responsibility for data integrity and consistency within the organization. This position is focused on understanding the sourcing of data, ensuring data is consistent amongst various systems and reports, assisting with query and report building, and understanding how best to access data for reporting requests. The role will have responsibility for collaborating with investor reporting, investment operations, investment professionals, and other internal functions.

Principal Accountabilities


Data Processing/Reporting (50%)

  • Prepare investor reports in accordance with the requirements outlined in the fund documents and coordinate the approval process
    • Coordinate quarterly reporting for individual funds and investors
    • Manage monthly reports including portfolio, exposure, counterparty, investment guidelines and position reports
  • Ensure that all reports required by the fund documents and related side letters are produced
  • Assist with the preparation of required compliance reporting for the various regulatory bodies
  • Monitor reporting from CarVal's third party administrator
  • Provide support to research and resolve issues related to data integrity and discrepancies
  • Assist in developing processes and procedures to support business activities

Data Management (40%)

  • Responsible for assisting with data reconciliation and maintenance to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness within the 'golden source' enterprise data and across various reporting systems
  • Develop an expertise in understanding data flow within the systems and utilize this knowledge to assist other functions with extracting data
  • Assist with the development of dashboards to facilitate data accuracy and completeness
  • Provide support in development and implementation of data management systems
  • Provide analysis and reporting services for internal customers including senior management, fund operations, management company, compliance and others
  • Evaluate and re-engineer existing processes for efficiency improvements and automation
  • Assist with testing and implementation of new data management solutions
  • Work closely with others within the organization to correct data as needed

Ad Hoc Data Requests (10%)

  • Manage ad hoc data requests for internal stakeholders such as the operations team members
  • Partner with project leads for other data driven work within the CarVal organization

Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience reviewing and analyzing financial information and data
  • Demonstrated expert Excel skills including proficiency with pivot tables, charts, and formulas
  • Demonstrated interest in basic structured query language or similar such as SQL/LookML or utilizing Looker
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including building internal and external relationships
  • Detail-oriented and effective multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and handle multiple demands

Preferred

  • Experience working in an alternative investment fund manager or similar industry
  • Programming and/or report building experience utilizing SQL, Snowflake, Looker, or other computer programming logic
  • Data management and validation experience
  • Exposure to financial services sector
