YOU

You want to be an important member of a strong team of other makers who take pride in their work and support each other. As a Director, ERP & Finance Applications, you will be responsible for all aspects of the design, application architecture, implementation of enhancements, upgrades and technical support of Simpson's SAP ERP and Finance Applications. You will have global responsibility over Simpson's Global ERP and Finance Applications; which includes multiple instances of SAP ERP across our different business entities, as well as Sage Fixed Assets, Dynamics AX, Thompson Reuters Onesource, and other key financial systems. You will manage teams of business analysts and solution architects, as well as Application Managed Services partners and support vendors responsible for the support and implementation of business and systems initiatives within Simpson's ERP environments. You will be responsible to help drive systems strategy and support across those systems and ensure that the support and enhancement of our ERP and Finance application have appropriate governance and controls, that requirements are well-defined, and that work is completed according to business priority. You will ensure that the team follow best practice design principles and application support processes. You will partner with business stakeholders and our Business Process Owners to help design and deliver a solutions to meet the needs of our business. At times, you will also take direct leadership for large implementation projects and programs related to our ERP systems, and provide project management and oversight. This position requires excellent Applications governance knowledge, business process design experience, and aa deep understanding of SAP ERP configuration and functionality. You should be able to understand business objectives and value management, and have strong verbal and written communication skills. You should have proven ability to manage relationships with business partners, IT, senior management and vendor organizations. This position is a member of the Global IT Applications team, reporting to the Sr. Director of Global IT Applications.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Managing all aspects of large, complex IT programs and/or multiple IT projects with minimal direction including project planning, execution, timing, requirements management, quality and cost. Delivering a portfolio of approved IT projects and deliverable on time, on budget, with expected quality and value generation. Projects will span our global ERP systems - and may include non-SAP ERP environments as we have in Europe and Asia. (40%)

Driving system enhancement and support processes with the ERP Support team - ensuring that business requests and smaller project work is properly scoped and prioritized, and that the business stakeholders are informed about status and delivery dates. Responsible for the intake process across the different functional areas including Finance, Sales and Distribution, Materials Management, Production Planning, and Warehouse Management. Will ensure that we are resourced adequately and that we are meeting our deliverable dates. (20%)

Providing team leadership and mentoring through direct interactions with team members, goals setting and development plans. Works to grow the capabilities of the team through individual development and quality processes. Should work with standard ITIL and Cobit processes to drive process and organizational excellence as well. (20%)

Driving sound architectural design and technical strategy across our ERP systems and landscape. This include the design of our systems processes and interfaces, data flows, notification and error handling processes, as well as designing the right support processes so that our ERP systems are running smoothly. (10%)

Conducting research on emerging technologies and key regulatory or data privacy issues that may impact our applications strategy. This should feed into our Applications roadmap. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Required - B.S. degree in engineering, computer science or related technical field.
  • Preferred - ITIL foundation, PMP or Scrum/Agile project mgt certification.
  • Required - 10 years of experience with SAP ERP in both hands-on configuration or development roles, as well as in management of projects and implementations.
  • Required - 6 years of IT Applications Team managements, preferably with globally dispersed teams. Experience with managing other managers.
  • Required - 4 year of Business process and systems design.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires 25% domestic and international travel.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Pleasanton, CA.
