Description:

This is a part of the hair care Innovation R&D team. They support new product lines and innovation on new materials, ingredients, and formulations. All Hair Care: Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, Joe Malone brands among others. They will support several formulation/innovation scientists overall, but typically focusing on 2 to 3 projects at any one time. - Supporting innovation team making batches, raw material changes and tweaks to existing formulations with new ingredients. - Novel and existing formulations swap outs for new scent and materials for front end R&D project support. - Entering formulations into R&D system and excel. - Coding of new raw materials (connecting with Vendors and seeking information for specs and required documentation)- Sampling and testing on formulations and physical testing of hair sample to determine product performance. Lab Functions: - Lab Maintenance - Materials, cleaning, ordering, dishware- Calibration of pH meter, viscometer, water drop- Lab Notebook accuracy and legibility- GXP - Training for Aveda S.O.Ps, hands on training as well- DSC, Tensile testing, and materials characterization analysis.- FT-IR, UV-Vis, Raman, and analytical chemistry product analysis

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

- BA/BS in Chemistry Materials Science, Chemical Engineering (or related)- 6 months + of GMP Lab experience in Materials or Physical Chemistry. OR academic research experience in a material science or chemistry environment.
