Our Exciting Opportunity:

Are you keen to use your creative writing skills? Do you have a broad vocabulary and an excellent grasp of spelling, punctuation and grammar? Can you record scripts clearly and confidently? If so, you would be an ideal candidate to become a scripter and voicer in our Audio Description team.

The successful candidate will be writing and voicing/recording Audio Description scripts for blind and visually impaired audiences to be able to fully understand TV programs and films across a wide range of genres and for many different TV channels. This role requires a bachelor's degree.

Job Purpose:

To write and record scripts for Audio Description (AD) across a broad range of TV and film output, and to assist in the delivery of Red Bee Media (a part of Ericsson)'s Audio Description service.

Audio Description is a second soundtrack, which describes onscreen action, locations and characters and is interwoven with the program dialogue, music and sound effects to assist the visually impaired audience.

The AD department is now permanently working from home! Although shift start/end times may vary over time, depending on the contracted work we have, it will initially be regular office hours. Training will be carried out remotely, with shared desktops and face-to-face online sessions by our homeworking trainers. You will also participate in video call team meetings, where you'll get to know your colleagues around the globe.

Organization:

Our Red Bee global AD team currently consists of an Audio Description Manager, two production managers, a production assistant and a team of AD scripters and voicers in a number of locations around the world. Here in Georgia, we have a small team dedicated to Audio Description work as a part of our larger Access Services operation, which also consists of a team of Closed Captioners.

You will:

  • To contribute ideas on editorial practice during group discussions and program reviews.
  • To gain a clear understanding of the program material and, where necessary, to check factual detail and editorial accuracy.
  • To watch or read fellow scripters' and voicers'work and give feedback.
  • To work with and support the person recording the Audio Description to ensure that they achieve the best end-product.
  • To voice AD scripts that you or your colleagues have created.
  • To operate a range of technical equipment, to ensure the preparation and delivery of audio-description scripts and voiced files.
  • To support the Audio Description Production Management team in planning for new audio-described output.
  • To collaborate with colleagues across Access Services to ensure the meeting of objectives.
  • To assist with the training and reviewing of new starters in the AD team.
