The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance for the company drug screen, unemployment and employment and wage verification programs, policies and processes. This incumbent is also responsible for assisting Employee Relations Consultants with various employee relations related responsibilities including corrective actions and investigations. The incumbent will also be responsible for partnering with the Human Resources Leadership team on various projects as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Manages administrative processes associated with the drug screen, unemployment, employment and wage verification programs
Accepts and responds to inquiries regarding wage and employment verifications.
Serves as point person for monthly random drug screening process. Ensures that the third-party vendor handles notifying employees and monitoring results.
Works with Legal department to gather personnel records and process subpoenas.
Processes Unemployment Claims and requests for Separation and Wage information.
Assists Employee Relations Consultants with corrective actions and investigations as directed.
Generates severance agreement paperwork as directed.
Serves as backup on employee background checks and annual motor vehicle checks until completion of results.
Responsible for identifying process improvement opportunities for various programs managed by the team.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi- task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work flexible hours as requested.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of HRIS systems preferred.
Detail-oriented, extremely organized with the ability to learn new programs and procedures quickly.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and sensitivity dealing with confidential information.
Ability to exercise critical thinking skills
Ability to work autonomously
Qualifications Required
Associate degree in Business, Human Resources or related field; OR equivalent work experience.
Three (3+) years' experience in Human Resources, preferably Employee Relations and healthcare experience.
Preferred
Experience working for a nationwide company.
PHR or SHRM-CP certified.
Knowledge of EEOC and OFCCP reporting requirements.
Knowledge of nationwide unemployment processes
