Job Summary

To provide in-depth quality assurance support for Surescripts software development. The QA Engineer plays a key role in the software development process as part of an agile team, working with product owners, developers, analysts, and other team members to define, prioritize, estimate, and communicate testing aspects of stories within the agile team's project scope. QA engineers are expected to support planning and strategizing of the test automation effort for the agile team.  Individuals are expected to attain a detailed knowledge of our applications and application interfaces as well as a solid understanding of our underlying business products and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate within an agile team providing input for product backlog, sprint planning, story development and testing, demos, and team retrospective.
  • Communicate and interact within an agile team on issues, changes, and enhancements that may impact data, workflow and /or functionality within the team's product responsibilities.
  • Review story requirements, design, and acceptance criteria during team planning to provide timely and meaningful feedback for robust story details.
  • Create and organize effective test strategy and planning to ensure software quality and to confirm business, technical and functional requirements.
    • Design system, regression, and integration tests to validate application releases.
    • Create comprehensive test data to support test cases.
    • Execute tests based on test strategy/plans. Tests may be manual or automated.
    • Support testing processes from manual testing to automated testing.
    • Provide concise and accurate documentation of software defects and issues.
    • Report test results to support story sign off by Product Owner.
  • Develop highly effective working relationships with product owners, developers, analysts, and other team members in support of the software process to ensure that releases are tested and ready for a production environment.
  • Create, analyze, review, and revise QA and system documentation as necessary based on changing functionality of applications.
  • Attain and maintain a high level of expertise regarding processing to and from Surescripts, and a moderate understanding of the dependencies between applications within Surescripts' systems.
  • Perform system, regression, and integrated tests across multiple environments as changes are promoted and staged for production.
  • Support the automated test efforts within the agile team.
    • Identify manual tests to be included in automated test suite.
    • Work with agile team members on framework enhancements/changes as needed.
    • Update/Add manual tests into the automated tests suite.
    • Support/Maintain the automated test suite to continually support product changes.

QualificationsBasic Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of QA experience with hands-on participation in manual and automated testing of software applications.
  • 2 years of experience with agile development process.
  • 2 years recent hands-on experience with database and operating systems.
  • 2 years of experience with ad-hoc query programs and writing SQL query statements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of standard transactions sets (NCPDP, ANSI, IHE or Telecom).
  • XML and Edifact formats
  • Json for web services
